GMB analyzer

Google Business Profile Analyzer

Use this Google Business Profile analyzer when you want a score for the public listing. The GMB analyzer works as a GMB analysis tool and a profile checker: it reads the fields customers already see, compares reviews with nearby competitors, and checks the linked website. Run it as a GMB checker, then read the Google Business Profile score before you open the full report.

The search box is on the homepage. Pick the business from the Google dropdown. A keyword is optional. 3 free previews every 24 hours, after an email. No Google login.

What the analyzer checks

Only the public signals this audit can score.

The list below is the live rubric. If a field is not here, the score does not use it. The GMB audit checklist is the manual pass for dashboard fields this tool cannot see.

Profile fields

Business name, street address, phone, and website URL. Hours are scored from how complete the week is: a full week scores as complete, a partial week scores lower, and missing hours score as missing. A specific primary place type scores higher than a generic label such as establishment or point of interest. When competitors are returned, that type is also compared with the most common primary type in the set.

Reviews and rating

The public review count and the average star rating. The count is judged on fixed bands and, when competitors are returned, against their median count. The rating is also compared with their median rating. Owner reply rate is not scored, because the public sample does not include a reliable reply rate. Recency is scored only when the returned texts cover every review. Places returns at most 5 review texts, so recency drops out whenever the business has more reviews than that sample.

Linked website

Scored only when a website is listed and the homepage can be fetched. The check looks for an indexable page, a title tag, a single H1, the business name, the phone number, and the city, plus LocalBusiness schema. If you enter a keyword, the homepage is also checked for those terms, including in the title. A missing site, or a fetch that fails, is left out of the total instead of being scored as a zero.

Business status

Included when Google reports a status other than operational, which pulls the total down. On an operational listing the attribute list is not in the Places fields this audit requests, so wheelchair access, Wi-Fi, parking, and payment methods are not scored and that weight is dropped.

Photo sample

Up to 10 public photo references. Photos are weighted 0, so this sample does not change the number out of 100. An empty sample can still be recorded as a finding. Photo types, logo, cover, freshness, and the rest of the library are not verified.

Keyword probe

Optional. Nine Places Text Search relevance probes: the business pin, plus eight points about 3.2 km out, each biased to a 6 km radius and up to 20 results. The probe can cap the score. It is a Places relevance check, not a Google Maps rank and not a geo-grid tracker.

Local competitors

Up to 5 other places from the same search. Their median review count, median rating, and most common primary type feed the score. The paid report also lists each one with distance and a photo sample. Competitor photo counts do not move the score.

How the score is calculated

A weighted public-signal score, then a keyword cap.

The starting weights are reviews 40, profile 30, website 25, and business status 5. Photos are weighted 0.

Any category the audit cannot score is dropped, and the remaining weights are scaled to 100. A typical operational listing drops business status, so the number is split across profile, reviews, and the website when the homepage can be fetched.

When a competitor median is available, review volume uses both an absolute band and that median. 35 percent of the volume score follows the band, where 100 reviews is the top, 50 is the next step, and 20 is the step below. 65 percent follows how the count compares with the median. With no competitor set, volume uses only the absolute band. The star rating is scored on its own bands, with 4.8 and above at the top, and a gap below the competitor median is recorded when that median exists.

Inside reviews, reply rate is not scored from this public sample. Recency is included only when the returned texts cover the full review count. Places returns at most 5 review texts, so a busier profile is scored on volume and rating alone.

First place on every probe that was measured does not lower the readiness score. Any other top-3 result, including first place at the business pin but not on every probe, caps the score at 79. A result from 4th through 10th caps it at 69. Outside the top 10, or missing from the probe, the cap is 55. The published score is the lower of the readiness score and that cap.

Analyzer vs GMB analytics

Performance insights tell you what people did. The analyzer tells you what the listing contains.

Google's Performance report, still searched as GMB analytics, sits in the Business Profile dashboard. It counts searches, views, calls, website clicks, and direction requests, and how those change over time. You need owner or manager access. It does not grade the listing or compare your review count with a local median.

This GMB analyzer does not show those interaction counts. It scores the public profile and, if you add a keyword, runs a Places relevance probe. Use Performance when you want demand and actions. Use the analyzer when you want a Google Business Profile score for the listing itself.

Left out of the score on purpose

  • Verification status
  • The owner-written description and secondary categories chosen in the dashboard
  • Posts, services, products, and Q&A
  • Citations and backlinks
  • Owner reply rate, and review recency unless the sample covers every review
  • The full photo library, photo types, logo, and cover
  • Performance counts: searches, views, calls, website clicks, and direction requests
  • Distance from the person searching, which depends on where they are

Those items need the dashboard, or another data source. They are not treated as failures just because this audit cannot see them.

FAQ

Google Business Profile analyzer questions

Plans start at $19/mo. The sample report shows the paid sections with fictional data.

What is a Google Business Profile analyzer?

A Google Business Profile analyzer, also called a GMB analyzer or GMB checker, scores the public listing. This one reads profile fields, reviews, the linked website, and an optional keyword probe, then returns a score out of 100. It does not log in to the Google Business Profile dashboard, and it is not Google's Performance report.

What does this GMB analysis tool check?

The checks are profile fields, reviews and rating, linked website, business status, photo sample, keyword probe, local competitors. Photos are a sample of up to 10 and are weighted 0, so that sample does not move the total. Posts, services, products, Q&A, review reply rate, and Google Performance counts are not scored. The checklist page covers the dashboard fields this tool cannot see.

How is the Google Business Profile score calculated?

Starting weights are reviews 40, profile 30, website 25, and business status 5. Photos are weighted 0. Categories that cannot be scored are dropped and the rest are scaled to 100. If you add a keyword, nine Places relevance probes can cap the result. The grade is A from 90, B from 80, C from 70, D from 60, and F below 60.

How do I read the free score preview?

After you enter an email, the preview shows the score, the letter grade, the lowest weighted area, the finding count, and one finding in plain text. Other findings from that run are listed but locked. Competitor names, category evidence, prioritized fixes, and the PDF are in the paid report. The number is a diagnostic. It does not promise a rank on Google.

Is a GMB analyzer the same as GMB analytics?

No. GMB analytics usually means Performance insights inside the Google Business Profile dashboard: searches, views, calls, website clicks, and direction requests over time. That report needs owner or manager access. This analyzer does not show those counts. It grades the public profile and, with a keyword, a Places relevance probe. Use Performance to see demand and actions. Use the analyzer to see whether the listing itself is competitive.

What does the free preview cost?

The preview is free: 3 every 24 hours, and an email is required before the score is shown. A single full audit is $9. Freelancer is $19/mo for 15 full audits. Agency is $49/mo for 60 full audits. Agency PDFs leave off GMB Audit branding.
